A former Senior Deputy Registrar and Head, WAEC International Office, Lagos, Deacon Julius Olufemi Oke, has been buried in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
DAILY POST gathered that Oke died on 20 November this year.
Oke retired from WAEC last year.
The remains of the deceased were committed to mother earth in Ibadan on Thursday.
He was buried amidst tears in the presence of family members, friends and associates.
The presiding Pastor at Christ Life Church International, Covenant Cathedral, Ibadan, Pastor Kehinde Ajibola, described the deceased as someone who helped a lot of people.
Ajibola, while delivering his sermon titled “The next minute after death,” assured the immediate family and friends of the deceased that they should not entertain any fear.
He said that the deceased had gone to rest with God because of his good work on earth and his personal encounter with the Lord as a born-again Christian.
Ajibola, who picked his sermon from Second Corinthians chapter 5–10, also described the deceased as a man who was very close to his family and the church while alive.
He, however, disclosed that his absence will be felt as he created a vacuum that may not be urgently filled both at home and in the church.
He said, “The word of God has given us sufficient information that whoever dies in Christ is alive; therefore we are always confident that he that believes in Christ shall never die, and that faith is the oxygen of the life of God.”
Wife of the deceased, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Oke, in her tribute, described her husband as a loving and caring father to his children and the family at large.
She said, “My baby boy, I am glad you made enormous impact on your generation and your legacy is eternal. Certainly, you are in the glory with your Maker.
“Femi, your love was my safe haven, a rare gift whose worth was per excellence. Even though I can’t find sufficient words to describe how deep your impact was on me as an invaluable husband, I will live each day thanking God that He gave me you with the privilege of being your wife.”
