Gunmen, on Wednesday evening, abducted a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Wale Oriade, in Ibadan.
The kidnapping occurred at about 7:06 p.m. on December 3, 2025, at the PJ Square Shopping Complex, located beside the NNPC station at Elewure, Iyana Ajanla, Akala Express, New Garage area of the Oyo State capital, where Oriade maintains an office.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived in a blue Micra car with two occupants, a driver and an armed assailant.
The gunman was said to have forcefully seized Oriade and bundled him into the waiting vehicle before speeding off.
The swift and coordinated manner of the operation has heightened anxiety among residents and within political circles in the state.
Oriade was taken to an undisclosed location, and as of the time this report was filed, neither his family nor his associates had been contacted. No ransom demand has been made.
In a statement jointly signed by Mojeed Olaoya, APC Oyo South Senatorial Chairman, and John Aremu, the State Youth Leader, the party confirmed the abduction and called for urgent intervention from the Nigeria Police Force.
The party urged security agencies to launch an immediate, intelligence-led rescue mission to secure Oriade’s safe release.
“A timely rescue will not only bring relief to Oriade’s family but also reassure the people of Oyo State that the Police Command remains proactive and committed to the protection of lives and property,” the statement read.
The Oyo APC also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the Police Command to maintain public order and appealed for increased vigilance during this critical period.
