Tell Nnamdi Kanu to be responsible in Sokoto – Bashir Ahmad to South-East stakeholders

Former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has charged South-East stakeholders to advise Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to conduct himself responsibly in the Sokoto Custodial Centre.

Ahmad, who described Kanu as a convicted terrorist, cautioned stakeholders against giving Kanu false hope.

Posting on X, he noted that these stakeholders failed to intervene when Kanu was awaiting judgment.

He wrote: “What the stakeholders from the East should be concentrating on is advising Nnamdi Kanu, a convicted terrorist, to conduct himself responsibly in Sokoto prison rather than giving him false hope that they will secure his release.

“They could not intervene while he was awaiting judgment and they certainly cannot overturn a verdict already delivered by a competent court of law.”

Kanu is serving life imprisonment in the Sokoto Custodial Centre.

This followed his conviction by Justice James Omotosho of an Abuja Federal High Court on charges bordering on terrorism.

The Nigerian government had prosecuted the IPOB leader over his agitation for Biafra.

Recently, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State visited Kanu at the Sokoto Custodial Centre. After the meeting the governor met with President Bola Tinubu over the IPOB leader’s case.
