The Rivers State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu.
Speaker of the State Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, said Tinubu deserves a second term and Nigerians should ensure he returns to office in 2027.
Amaewhule, who spoke during plenary, said Tinubu has done well in his first term.
He said: “What members are saying is that Mr President needs another term in office, he should be encouraged to declare to run for another term in office and most importantly is that all state constituencies and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly will go back and begin to tell out people about the Renewed Hope Agenda and how to support Mr President.”
He stressed that state governors and local government chairmen are no longer rushing to the banks to pay salaries under Tinubu.
According to the Speaker, Tinubu has made funds available to state governments in the country.
He said: “Funds are now very much available to the sub-nationals and third tiers and we thank Mr President. We are happy with what Mr President is doing in the morning economy.”
In the area of security, Amaewhule admitted that there are still challenges in Nigeria but the president is doing well in the fight against insecurity.
“In terms of security, we know we still have challenges, members have said that there are challenged, but of course, there are no countries without security.
“But the question to be asked is what is Mr President doing if my state is doing the needful? It’s not enough for us to talk down on the Federal government, our hands should be on deck.
“We should inform the security agents about those bandits killing people, where they are so that the needful will be done. We thank Mr President for what he is doing and we believe that much more will be done.
“For us in Rivers State and the State House of Assembly, our job will be to pray for Mr president for God to give him good health and strength to continue to pilot the affairs of this country. We will not join those who are demarketing this country, rather we will join those who are praying for this country. What all the members are saying is that Mr President is doing the needful and our job is to support him.”
Amaewhule also commended Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
“We thank Mr President for appointing Wike as the FCT Minister, we are proud of what he is doing in Abuja,” he added.
