Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has said that Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence needs an experienced hand to tackle insecurity in the country.
Sani made this statement in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday in reaction to the resignation of the Minister of Defence, Badaru Mohammed.
DAILY POST reports that Badaru late on Monday resigned his appointment with immediate effect.
According to the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the minister disclosed that he was resigning on health grounds.
Reacting, Shehu Sani said, “Whether the Defence minister resigned or was removed, the Defence Ministry needs an experienced hand to lead in view of the exigencies of today.
“Nigeria historically fought in the first and second World Wars, contributed forces for the restoration of peace in DRC Congo,Tanzania, Lebanon, Somalia, Sierra Leon, Liberia, Sudan, etc.
“The nation should be able to defend itself against these criminal bandits and terrorists.”
