Bauchi won’t be hiding place for criminals – Gov Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has promised that he will never allow the state to become a base for bandits, terrorists, or any other criminals.

He made this statement on Thursday while presenting the 2026 budget of more than N878 billion to the State House of Assembly.

The governor explained that Bauchi has worked very hard to achieve peace, and anyone who tries to disturb that peace will face serious legal consequences.

“Bauchi has paid a big price to enjoy the peace we have today. We will not allow any group or individual to turn our state into a place of fear or insecurity,” he said.

He warned that anyone who brings banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, or violence into the state will be punished.

He added, “Whoever tries to create trouble in Bauchi will meet the full force of the law. We are all ready to protect our state, and anyone planning conflict will be firmly dealt with.”

Governor Mohammed also warned traditional rulers and government workers not to protect criminals or help them in any way. He said anyone caught selling community land, forest areas, or grazing spaces without government permission would face punishment.

“No leader or official should hide criminals, negotiate with them, or sell land illegally. Anyone involved in helping criminals or disposing of land without approval will face serious action.”

He also said his administration will continue fighting illegal tree cutting, mining, charcoal burning, and the use of forests as criminal camps.

“We will manage our land and forests responsibly for farmers, herders, investors, and future generations. But we will not allow any part of Bauchi, whether forest, mountain, or village, to become a shelter for bandits or criminals,” he said.
