Three farmers have been killed in a fresh attack on farmlands in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
The victims, identified as Mr Ioryer Kwaghkaha OLS, Ayila Atsar, and a yet-unidentified individual, were reportedly shot and brutally assaulted while working on their farms in Gilim Ashi village, along the Naka–Agagbe road, behind Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Naka.
Local sources confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and taken to the Naka morgue.
The killings follow an ambush less than 24 hours earlier, when armed men killed a traveler along the Naka–Makurdi road near Kula village.
Although Nigerian Army troops repelled that attack, the assailants returned on Thursday, this time targeting farmers.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
