He was an embodiment of Islamic intellectual history – Akpabio mourns Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar and supreme leader of the Tijaniyyah Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

In a condolence message released on Thursday and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio extended his sympathies to the Bauchi State Government, the people of the state, the Islamic Ummah, and the family of the late cleric.

Describing Sheikh Bauchi as an epitome of Islamic scholarship, the Senate President said the late scholar was an embodiment of Islamic intellectual history whose impact on the faith would endure for generations.

“On behalf of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, my family and constituents, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the government and people of Bauchi State, as well as the Islamic Ummah and the family of the late renowned Islamic scholar and supreme leader of the Tijaniyyah Movement, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, OFR,” Akpabio said.

He noted that the late Islamic leader was a committed Muslim and a custodian of the teachings of Islam, whose contributions to Islamic scholarship and leadership within the Tijaniyyah Movement left an indelible mark on the country.

Akpabio further stated that Sheikh Bauchi would be fondly remembered for his positive influence on Islamic jurisprudence and the spiritual enrichment of Muslims across Nigeria and beyond.

“May Allah grant Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s soul eternal peace and grant his family and the Muslim community the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

The renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, died at the age of 98 leaving behind over 70 children. His burial is set to hold on Friday in line with islamic tradition.
