PDP demands full inquiry into purported revocation of Presco Plc’s land by Edo Govt

Following the purported revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy of Presco Plc and the sacking of Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, the Managing Director of Edogis, the State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a full inquiry into the revocation notice.

DAILY POST recalls that in a viral notice on several social media platforms, dated November 21, 2025, and purportedly signed by the Governor, Monday Okpebholo, it was stated that the revocation was in accordance with Sections 28 and 38 of the Land Use Decree No. 6 of 1978 (now an Act). The notice also added that the action was taken in the overriding public interest and noted that there are two oil wells on the land.

Reacting to the development, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Dan Osa-Ogbegie, said the full inquiry into the revocation notice should include forensic verification of the Governor’s signature. The party also called for the reinstatement of Presco’s rights, as well as a public apology to the people of Edo State and investors. Other demands include the immediate reform of land administrative processes to prevent the Governor from using the Land Use Act for political vendetta.

The party further demanded a public explanation for the alleged “irrational behaviour of this government.” The statement, titled “Presco Land Scandal: A Government without a Compass, and a Governor Who Signs Away Edo’s Destiny Without Thinking”, opined that the people of the state cannot continue under a government that signs away its destiny “carelessly and lies about it shamelessly.”

“Edo State cannot be entrusted to a man who does not understand the power of his own pen. Edo cannot continue under a government that signs away its destiny carelessly and lies about it shamelessly. This is a sad moment in our history, but Edo people will rise above the incompetence of one man. Presco Plc is not just a company; it is the single largest agro-industrial investment in Edo State, a 34-year pillar employing thousands directly and indirectly. It is a company with one of the best-performing stocks on the Nigerian Exchange.”
