Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo has addressed circulating reports claiming that her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, lost his luxury fashion store during protests after Tanzania’s presidential election.
Naija News reports that the reports went viral early Thursday that protesters had set Juma Jux’s store, reportedly worth millions, on fire.
A user, Bolaji Fesomade wrote: “Reports from Tanzania say singer Juma Jux’s store, worth over $780 million, has been set ablaze and completely destroyed by protesters. The violence erupted after yesterday’s tense presidential election, which sparked chaos and unrest across several parts of the country.”
Priscilla Ojo clarified the situation through Snapchat, explaining that while some items were taken during the unrest, the store building itself was not destroyed by fire.
She wrote: “Looted not burnt.”
The couple recently returned to Lagos with their young son, after a grand welcome-home party organized by Priscilla’s mother, Iyabo Ojo.
Juma Jux has not publicly commented on the situation.
Naija News understands that Tanzania is facing unrest following its general election on October 29, 2025.
The vote stirred controversy as key opposition parties and candidates were barred from running, prompting citizens to take to the streets in major cities, including Dar es Salaam.
Protesters demanded fair representation and voiced frustration over what they described as a manipulated electoral process.
Security forces responded with tear gas and gunfire to disperse crowds, and authorities imposed a curfew from 6 pm.
Internet services were partially restricted in several areas to limit communication during the unrest.
