Actress Habibat Jinad has accused popular Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji of rejecting a role in her movie and blocking her on social media for about four years.
Naija News reports that the actress made the claim in a video shared on Instagram, where she recalled how her colleague allegedly refused to work with her, saying he preferred to feature in movies involving “fortunate people.”
She recounted that the statement left her disappointed, but she later chose to move on with her career.
Habibat explained that the actor blocked her for years and only unblocked her in January 2025.
According to her, she had no idea what caused the issue and decided to speak out to express how fame has changed some actors in the film industry.
She clarified that her decision to talk about the matter was not to create controversy but to express her feelings about the attitude of some colleagues after attaining fame.
She said: “There was a time I wanted to shoot a movie and I told Lateef Adedimeji that he would be part of it. He told me point-blank that he only wants to feature in movies with fortunate people. I was like, who are those who are not fortunate? I was pained at first by his statement, but I moved on.
“He blocked me for like four years and only unblocked me in January 2025. I never understood what led to such action. I decided to speak out now, not to cause any drama, but to show how some of my colleagues change once fame comes their way.”
Lateef Adedimeji, who is known for his emotional roles in Yoruba movies such as Ayinla, Lisabi, and Jagun Jagun, has yet to respond to the allegations as of the time of this report.
