Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has shown off his brand-new customized gold-plated iPhone 17 on social media, attracting plenty of attention, Soccernet reported.
Fresh from international duty with Nigeria, where the Super Eagles secured a World Cup playoff spot after wins against Lesotho and Benin, the 32-year-old defender has returned to Saudi Arabia to rejoin his club, Al Kholood. But before resuming action, Troost-Ekong took a moment to share a photo of his latest luxury purchase, a stunning 24-karat gold-plated iPhone 17.
This isn’t an ordinary phone. The device is customized with Troost-Ekong’s name and his shirt number “5” engraved on the back. The iPhone 17, already the newest and most advanced in Apple’s lineup, becomes even more exclusive with such a luxurious finish.
The gold-plated version is said to cost between $4,600 and $8,000, roughly N7 million to N12.5 million, a price tag fit only for a select few.
Although Troost-Ekong is not known for showing off, this purchase reflects his well-earned success. Playing in Saudi Arabia, where footballers command huge salaries, he can certainly afford such indulgence.
Reports suggest that the former Watford and Udinese defender earns an impressive N7 billion annually, the biggest paycheck of his career.
Currently, Troost-Ekong captains Al Okhdood, a side struggling at the bottom of the Saudi Pro League after losing their first four matches. Despite the rough start, the Nigerian international remains determined to lead his team to safety and improve their position in the coming weeks.
For now, though, the Super Eagles skipper is enjoying a bit of luxury off the pitch, and his gold iPhone 17 is the perfect symbol of how far hard work and perseverance have taken him.
