Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Ikpeba, has hailed the likes of Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen following their impressive performances during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier 4-0 win against Benin Republic on Tuesday.
Ikpeba lauded both players for their “fantastic combination” during the encounter that gave Nigeria the victory against the Benin Republic.
Recall that Chukwueze provided Osimhen with two assists during the match in Uyo as the Galatasaray attacker scored a hat-trick against Gernot Rohr’s side.
Speaking on SuperSport, Ikpeba said, “There is competition for positions in the national team.
“He [Chukwueze] plays for AC Milan, now on loan to Fulham. And these goals coming from one player, we should not forget that both players [Chukwueze and Osimhen] played for the U17s many years ago, so they know themselves very well.
“That is what we want to see, this combination has been fantastic.”
Nigeria will now play in the World Cup playoffs to try and secure a ticket for the 2026 World Cup.
