5 Foods Women Should Avoid During Menstruation

According to “Healthline”, menstruation, or period, is normal vaginal bleeding that happens as part of a woman’s monthly cycle. Every month, your body prepares for pregnancy. If no pregnancy occurs, the uterus, or womb, sheds its lining.

However, some foods are not recommended to be eaten during the menstrual cycle such as:

1. Fried foods

Fried foods induce digestive disorders, so it is recommended to reduce their intake in general and resist them during the menstrual cycle.

2. Sweet

Sweets are assessed as foods that are not approved to be eaten during the menstrual cycle because they cause increased bloating and gas, and it is recommended to lessen the intake of sweets in general.

3. Processed foods

These processed foods worsen bloating and retain more water in the body and lead to high salt content, and therefore it is recommended to avoid them during the menstrual cycle.

4. Bakery and pastry

Pastries also help in feeling bloating and cramps in the abdomen, such as pizza, cake, etc., and thus increase the disturbing symptoms of menstruation, so it is one of the lists of foods that are not approved to be eaten during the menstrual cycle.

5. Red meat

During the menstrual cycle, the body generates prostaglandins, which are fatty substances related to hormones. These compounds enable the uterus to contract and shed the lining of the uterus, which leads to the flow of menstruation. It is advisable to reduce or stop the intake of red meat during the menstrual cycle to avoid the contraction of the uterus.
