3 Things We Cook That We Should Eat Raw

Some of the nutritional contents in the foods we cook are being leached into the water. They become useless or toxic. This is why we don’t always get some of the benefits by the time we eat them.

Some foods are best eaten raw rather than cooked. When you eat them raw, you’ll fully utilize their nutritional content for your body.

According to WebMD, the process of boiling, frying, or toasting these foods can either kill or reduce their nutrients, which are essential to our bodies. The following are cooked foods that should be eaten raw:

1. Onions are rich in antioxidant content that usually deteriorates after cooking. Some of us like cooking our foods with onions because of the special aroma and taste they add to them.

However, when you eat them raw, they work in your body as an antioxidant and help you combat prostate and lung cancer. After cooking your food, just slice some onions on it and eat them raw.

If you don’t like the smell, you can easily brush your teeth after eating. In this way, you benefit from the nutritional content.

2. Tomatoes are specifically rich in lycopene, a carotenoid that can help fight prostate cancer. It can also help you reduce the risk of heart problems and protect your skin from the effects of ultraviolet rays from the hot sun.

This carotenoid is more active in tomatoes when you eat them raw.

You can cook your food and slice about two tomatoes on top of it. This will provide you with its nutritional value.

3. Plantains are very rich in vitamin A, vitamin B, and fiber. It’s also a good source of carbohydrates, magnesium, and potassium.

The vitamins work as antioxidants in your body to make your immune system strong. Chop some ripe plantains on top of your cooked food and eat them raw.
